For 36 years, Longhorns Tennis Camp has provided the best training environment for players across the country, primarily in the great state of Texas. Hook 'Em! We look forward to having you join us this summer and becoming a member of the Longhorn family!

This camp is open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender)

Our Traditional Camps provide campers with a fun-filled week of mixed instruction, team competition and off-court activities. All campers are exposed to the training methods used at the University of Texas at Austin. The Match Play Camp provides juniors an opportunity to develop their tactical skills. Campers play an entire compass draw of singles and doubles each day. Campers should have tournament experience, preferred but NOT REQUIRED.

Day Camper: $725 (includes camp t-shirt and lunch Monday-Thursday)

Overnight Camper: $900 (includes camp t-shirt, all meals and their room)

CAMP OVERVIEW

Longhorns Tennis Camps are held at The Texas Tennis Center located on the campus of UT-Austin. This is a 24,000 square-foot facility that provides 12 outdoor courts and a centralized headquarters for the Longhorns’ men’s and women’s tennis programs.  

**During camp, the Whitaker Tennis Courts are also utilized as additional courts to host camp. These are located just north of campus with several other recreational court and facilities. We use these courts to maximize court time. All campers will be use both facilities.

CAMPER HOUSING

Overnight campers will be housed in The Castilian, a privately-owned, newly-renovated, high-rise dormitory near campus. Roommate requests may be made through the online registration form. Experienced, mature male and female staff provide 24-hour supervision. All employees have passed an extensive criminal background check as well as a child protection training conducted by The University of Texas Human Resources Department. 

**This is a coed camp. However, we separate boy and girl rooms onto separate floors with strict rules on what floors your camper is allowed/not allowed to access.

REGISTRATION FAQs

  • All camp registrations are completed online using the registration link. Click here to get started!

  • Camps are open for registration until the camp session is full. Camps fill quickly, so we encourage registering as early as possible. 

  • For day campers, lunch and a camp T-shirt is included.

    For overnight campers, all meals and a camp T-shirt is included.

  • Yes! An initial deposit of $150 of the registration fee will hold your camper’s spot. The deposit is non-refundable within one week of the start of the camp. Additional payments can be made at any time. If the deposit option is selected, you will be asked during registration to save your credit card on file to charge the remaining camp balance one week before camp. 

  • At this time, we are not offering scholarships or registration discounts.

  • Camp registration fees may be refundable, provided the Camp Director is notified within the timelines below.  

    1. Per camp policy, $150 deposit is non-refundable for any reason at any time, no exceptions! You must give more than 5 days notice of cancellation from the start of your camp date to receive refund minus the deposit.
    2. Camp merchandise may not be returned for refunds or camp credit.
    3. There are no refunds for a "no show" or if a camper leaves early due to homesickness.
    4. There are no refunds once a session has started.
    5. Campers who cancel their camp session due to medical reasons have 2 weeks from the date of cancellation to submit a physician's note to the camp. No refund allowed after the 2 week grace period.

  • Campers must complete and submit the following forms during registration: 1. Consent for Treatment/Immunization of a Minor, 2. Release and Indemnification Agreement, and 3. Transportation. These consent forms will be a part of the Registration Process. Completed forms and deposit fees must be received to guarantee your camper’s registration. Campers will not be able to check-in if forms are not completed and received before their arrival at camp. 

    The Camp Director will contact a camper’s parent/guardian if there is missing/incorrect information or forms have not been received by the start of the camp. 

  • All campers will need to check-in and check-out at the front desk of the Texas Tennis Center with the Camp Director. Below is a breakdown of camp start and end times each day: 

    Sunday 3:30pm-6:30pm | Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm

    CHECK IN TIMES ON SUNDAY: 

    OVERNIGHT CAMPERS HAVE THE OPTION TO FIRST CHECK IN AT THE CASTILIAN TO HELP UNLOAD OVERNIGHT BAGS AND SET UP THE DORMS. THIS WILL BE 1:45-2:45PM. From there, the parent/guardian will then need to drop them off at the Texas Tennis Center before 3:30pm to finish check in. Unpacking first at the dorm will help so they do not have to carry it all on the bus after the camp session Sunday evening. If you cannot be at the dorms between this time window, just drop off the camper at check in at the Texas Tennis Center between 2:45-3:30 and the camper will have to take dorm luggage with them on the bus after the Sunday tennis session.

    DAY CAMPER check in will be 2:45-3:30pm at the Texas Tennis Center on Sunday. Gates open 30 minutes prior Mon-Thurs for check in/drop off of Day Campers. Pickup for day campers will be at 4:30pm each day. 

    For those campers staying overnight, we will provide transportation to and from The Castilian throughout the duration of camp. Overnight camper's parents will only be responsible for drop off on Sunday for check in and pickup on Thursday at the conclusion of the camp.

  • All overnight campers are housed in a suite at The Castilian.

    • Tennis attire for five days and tennis shoes (NO RUNNING SHOES)
    • Tennis racquets (We do not provide tennis racquets at any point during camp)
    • Water jug (This is a must)
    • Sunscreen and a hat
    • Laundry bag, swim suit, towel
    • Toiletry kit and towels (Overnight campers only; label items to avoid loss)
    • Sheets (Overnight campers only; most beds are twin/twin XL... Full-Sized sheets will fit most beds)
    • Pillow, Blanket and/or sleeping bag (Overnight campers only)
    • Additional spending money for use at UT COOP, ice cream, etc (Overnight campers only)
  • Televisions, laptops, and excessive amounts of cash are not protected by the camp, the camper brings them at their own risk. Contraband items that have no place at camp: matches, lighters, knives, firearms, alcoholic beverages, rope, razor blades, tobacco products, illegal drugs, candles, fireworks, incense, etc. If it requires a second thought or question about whether it belongs at camp or not - it doesn't!

  • Yes! All rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.

  • Yes! Credit/debit card and some coin-operated washers and dryers are located at the residential housing. Campers will be responsible for bringing their own laundry supplies.

  • Yes, this is set by the camp counselors each night with a “lights out” time.

  • Yes! Just include the name of the camper(s) your camper would like to stay with during registration. Most rooms accommodate up to four campers. Roommate requests must correspond to each other and we will do our best to accommodate.  All roommate requests must be of the same sex.

  • Under no circumstances are campers permitted into rooms or on the residential floors occupied by those of the opposite sex. Any violations will result in immediate expulsion from the camp without a refund. Campers are welcome to socialize in supervised common areas of the residential housing, including in the game room, lobby and dining hall. We will separate and assign rooms by floors (boys on one floor, girls on another).

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to call or leave a message to Megan Hoffman (Camp Director). Please do not contact the Camp Housing residence.  Campers are permitted to bring cell phones and other communication devices to camp; however, it is the camper’s responsibility to ensure these items are safe and protected.

  • Yes! Parents/guardians are invited to attend any camp sessions. Parents/guardians are not permitted on camper housing floors outside of check-in and check-out hours of operation.

  • We do not offer pickup to/from the airport for out-of-town campers.

  • All sports camps and clinics conducted by The University of Texas are open to all entrants per NCAA rules and regulations. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender and capacity restrictions. Longhorns Tennis Camp is open for 9-18 year olds.

  • The University of Texas Head Coach Howard Joffe and Assistant Coaches Ryan Lipman and Justin Butsch oversee the Longhorns Tennis Camp. Campers will also receive instruction from some of the country’s finest college, high school and club coaches. 

  •  Street Parking is available at the Texas Tennis Center. Please read future emails on parking at the Whitaker Tennis Courts.

    The University of Texas is a permit parking only campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please observe posted signs on campus. The camp is not responsible for parking tickets received by campers or parents. 

  • Yes! We welcome parents/guardians to observe any camp sessions in designated areas.  Visitors, including parents/guardians, are not allowed to be in areas where only authorized personnel and campers are permitted.  This is for the safety of all campers in attendance. Parents are NOT allowed on court.

  • Campers will ride buses to/from camp sessions.

  • Camp rules will be given on the first day of camp. 

  • It depends! Most campers will bring $30-$50. Campers will need money for merchandise purchases if they want at University Co-Op (overnight campers only). Campers are responsible for their own money. 

  • Merchandise will be available during the registration process. It must be picked up during check in, we will not ship bought merchandise. 

  • We make every attempt to reunite lost articles with owners daily. However, we cannot be responsible for returning unclaimed belongings. We encourage campers to write their full name on everything of importance. Any item not claimed after two weeks will be discarded. Please contact the camp director for lost items.

MEDICAL, MEDICATIONS AND HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Based on food allergies and dietary needs listed in the medical forms, we will work with The Castilian to accommodate all of those needs and allow for options for everyone.

  • Please email LonghornTennisCamp@athletics.utexas.edu to request accommodations for your camper. Megan Hoffman (Camp Director) will coordinate with The University’s Disability and Access Office to provide Accommodations and Services to address the barriers that impact a camper’s ability to learn, participate and perform. 

  • Texas Athletics subscribes to the WeatherData, Inc. Skyguard monitoring and alerting service.  Directors are immediately notified when inclement weather is approaching the UT campus, and will remove campers from any potentially dangerous situation. During the summer, we anticipate extreme heat. We will have water and Gatorade provided at all times, will give plenty of breaks to come into the AC, and will have an Athletic Trainer on site. We are aware the summertime Texas Heat can be a concern in June. We make sure to give plenty of water and rest to mitigate any heat related issues.

  • The camp can dispense medications (prescription or over-the-counter (OTC)) to your camper. These medications include prescription medications such as antibiotics, asthma inhalers, and OTC medications such as Tylenol, Advil, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies. 

    The following must be completed and approved before a medicine can be dispensed to your camper:

    • Complete the Permission to Dispense section on the medical forms (included in registration). Please complete this section if your camper needs a prescription or OTC medicine while at camp, even if they are not currently taking any medications. No medication can be administered until a signed and completed form is on file. This also includes any medications the camper will keep and self-administer during camp. 
      • Inhalers: Campers should keep their inhalers with them at all times, including during training sessions and downtime. 
      • Epi-Pens: Campers with epi-pens should keep their epi-pen with them at all times, including during training sessions and downtime. Please give an extra epi-pen to the athletic trainer on the first day of camp with instructions.
    • Deliver medications to the athletic trainer on the first day of camp in prescription bottles or marked containers that include the camper's full name, medication name, dosage and the time of day to be administered. Clear plastic bags (such as a Zip-Loc) are a great way to keep all medicines together. 
    • Verbally communicate medicine dispensing instructions with the athletic trainer on the first day of camp. If the athletic trainer helps administer medications, they will arrange times with the camper each day of the camp.

    Before a camper can carry and self-administer medication during camp, all parents/guardians must affirm and agree to the following:

    • The camper has been instructed on proper medication use and is physically, mentally, and behaviorally capable of administering the medication without camp personnel supervision.
    • The camper has an adequate supply of the medication for the camp and can store and secure the medication. 
    • The camper will use the medication only as prescribed by a physician or according to dosage instructions. The camper will not share or otherwise provide medication to any other camper.
    • The camper understands and agrees that failure to abide by this agreement constitutes a violation of camp rules that will result in disciplinary action, including removal from camp.
  • We will have an Athletic Trainer on site during camp to assist in any medical needs. If needed in extreme situations, we will call 911 and execute the Emergency Action Plan designated by the facility.

    The camp will always notify parents/guardians of any medical condition, health concerns, permission for physician's visits, OTC medications, emergencies and consultations.

  • Every effort is made to ensure safety throughout the camp. Supervision is maintained at all camp sessions, during transportation and at the residential housing facilities. Campers are assigned to at least one coach/counselor, and are not permitted to leave facilities without supervision. 

    Experienced and certified athletic trainers are available to monitor minor injuries, hydration levels and sicknesses.

  • Every member of our staff has fulfilled all human resources procedures and clearances required by the University of Texas, the State of Texas, the NCAA and all relevant and applicable laws, including a comprehensive criminal background check and training for child protection awareness, safety and reporting protocols. 

  • Our staff coaches and counselors maintain constant supervision throughout all camp activities, on and off the field. A licensed and experienced athletic trainer is on duty to attend to all injuries and sickness, as well as monitor levels of hydration and overall wellbeing. 

  • All summer programs involving minors at The University of Texas at Austin follow guidelines set forth by the Youth Protection Program (YPP). The purpose of the YPP is to promote the safety of minors participating in camps or programs on university premises or participating in those programs sponsored or supported by the University. All camps and programs work closely with the YPP Manager to ensure that every program operates in accordance with all of the university’s policies, rules and regulations, as well as the laws of The State of Texas regarding the safety of minors. More information about the YPP is available online at www.youthprotectionprogram.utexas.edu, and questions can be directed to the YPP Manager at  ypp@utexas.edu.

    The YPP Parent Guidebook will familiarize you with how the University protects your children while they are participating in programs on campus.

  • On June 1, 2015, Gov. Greg Abbott signed S.B. 11, also known as the "campus carry" law. S.B. 11 provides that license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016. The law gives public universities some discretion to regulate campus carry.

    The University of Texas at Austin and President Gregory L. Fenves take issues surrounding guns on campus very seriously and will strive to create policies that conform to the new law, protect the rights of citizens and ensure the safety and security of the entire campus.

    S.B. 11 provides that after consulting with students, staff and faculty regarding "the nature of the student population, specific safety considerations and the uniqueness of the campus environment" the university may enact reasonable rules and regulations regarding: 
    • carrying of concealed handguns by license holders on campus; and 
    • storage of handguns in dormitories or other residential facilities

    The law stipulates, however, that these rules and regulations may not either "generally prohibit" or "have the effect of generally prohibiting" license holders from carrying concealed handguns on campus.  The purpose of the Youth Protection Program (YPP) is to protect all minors in their university-sponsored activities and interactions involving members of The University of Texas at Austin community. Pursuant to S.B. 11 (the “Campus Carry Law”), the YPP Policy prohibits the carrying of a concealed handgun by any person involved in a University of Texas at Austin camp/program for minors. This Policy also applies to parents and guardians who are visiting or transporting a participating minor to and from camps/programs at The University of Texas at Austin.

  • Designated individuals will set their social media accounts to private for the duration of the camp. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with campers are not allowed.

  • Campers may stay in contact with the camp director, faculty or staff via the camp/program social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with camp staff and faculty are not allowed.
