Acyl Halides, Sulfonyl Halides, and Chloroformates

Summary

Details

Cyanides, Inorganic is a reactive group.

Reactivity Predictions (for each pair of reactive groups)

Cyanides, Inorganic mixed with
Acyl Halides, Sulfonyl Halides, and Chloroformates

Hazard Predictions

The cyanide ion can act as a nucleophile to displace the halide from an acyl halide, resulting in an acyl cyanide (Zeng, Wei et al, Letters in Organic Chemistry, 6(8), 637-641; 2009). Acyl cyanides are reactive compounds which are highly flammable and toxic. Caution should be used before proceeding. Further research of comparable examples in the literature or very small scale, carefully controlled experiments may be needed to fully assess compatibility.
