Hazard Predictions

Inorganic cyanide compounds can undergo ligand exchange with transition-metal carbonyl complexes, although the reactions are probably slow, since the equilibrium seems to favor binding of carbonyl and release of free cyanide ion. For example, sodium hexacyanoferrate, i.e. Na3[Fe(CN)6], will release cyanide ligands in order to bind carbonyl ligands (Gail, E., Gos, S., Kulzer, R., Lorösch, J., Rubo, A., Sauer, M., Kellens, R., Reddy, J., Steier, N. and Hasenpusch, W. 2011.
