Hazard Predictions

Pure alcohols which can form stable radicals (secondary branched structures) may slowly peroxidise to a limited extent under normal storage conditions. The presence of ketones, especially 2-butanone (methyl ethyl ketone), markedly increases the possibility of peroxidation by sensitizing photochemical oxidation of the alcohol (Bretherick, L. 1996.
