Hazard Predictions

Ketones may be reduced to hydrocarbons by hydrazine (The Wolff-Kishner Reduction), (Morrison, R. 1973. Organic Chemistry. Allyn and Bacon Inc, Boston, pp. 631). Saturated hydrocarbons with fewer than five carbons are flammable gases.

Azoisobutyronitrile explosively decomposed in the presence of acetone. Non-explosive decomposition was observed in the presence of methanol (Bretherick, L. 1996. Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards. Fifth Ed. Urben, P.G., Ed. Butterworth-Heinemann, Boston, MA. Vol. 1, p 974).
