A violent explosion occurred when sulfuric acid was used to produce 6-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzenediazonium sulfate and the product was exposed to thermal shock. Several other diazonium salt derivatives also were found to have similar dangerous properties (Bersier, P. et al., Chem. Ing. Tech., 1971, 43(24), 1311-1315.). Various combustion gases may be generated.
