Reactions of oximes with peroxides can produce ketones, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids, as well as gaseous nitrogen oxides. In some cases, the reaction proceeds under mild conditions (Cosaro, A.; Chiacchio, U.; Pistara, V. Regeneration of Carbonyl Compounds from the Corresponding Oximes. Synthesis. 2001, Vol. 13, p. 1903-1931). Oximes may oxidize to nitro compounds in the presence of certain peroxides.
Potential Gas Byproducts
- Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)
- Aldehydes
