Hazard Predictions
- Potentially hazardous: May be hazardous but unknown
The combination of inorganic cyanides and epoxides may lead to reactive hazards such as exothermic ring opening in the epoxide (Predicted). There may be a rather low activation energy for these reactions, although we have only found documentation of this reaction occurring by catalysis thus far. We encourage the user to do adequate testing to better understand the hazards of associated chemicals in these groups.
Inorganic cyanides may react with epoxides to liberate toxic NOx and flammable hydrocarbon gases (Predicted, citation needed).
