Disiloxane can be cleaved and reduced to toxic silane gas at temperatures as low as -33C by metal hydrides including lithium aluminum hydride, sodium borohydride, lithium borohydride and sodium hydride (Schumb, Walter C. and Robinson, Dean W. 1955. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 77 (20), pp 5294-5294).
Lithium hydride reacts vigorously with silicates when heated above 180 C (Sullivan, E. and Wade, R. 1980. Hydrides. Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 3rd ed. John Wiley & Sons, Inc.).
