Acidic salts may react exothermically with organometallics. These reactions are not expected to generate hazardous levels of heat.
Transition metal halides, some of which are acidic, react with iron pentacarbonyl to form transition-metal carbonyl compounds, which are often volatile and pyrophoric (Urben, P.G. 1995. Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards, 5th Edition. Oxford: Butterworth-Heinemann., Vol. 1, pp. 610).
