Hazard Predictions
- Generates gas: Reaction liberates gaseous products and may cause pressurization
No evidence was found for a hazardous interaction between sulfones, sulfoxides, phosphates, or thiophosphates and organometallics at ambient temperature.
However, a reaction was reported at elevated temperatures: Fe(CO)5 can deoxygenate sulfoxides to sulfides at 130 C, with release of CO2 gas (H. Alper, E. C. H. Keung, Tetrahedron Lett. 1970, 53).
Further research of comparable examples in the literature or very small scale, carefully controlled experiments may be needed to fully assess compatibility.
