Diazonium tetrafluoroborates can decompose violently during drying or elevated temperature operations (Kurti, L.; Czako, B.; Balz-Schiemann Reaction. In Strategic Applications of Named Reactions in Organic Synthesis; Elsevier, 2005; pp 34-35). This reaction is known as the Balz-Schiemann reaction.
Large volumes of gas are generated when making fluorobenzene from benzenediazonium fluoborate (Organic Syntheses, Coll. Vol. 2, p.295 (1943); Vol. 13, p.46 (1933)).
