Hazard Predictions
- No known hazardous reaction
Chlorosilanes can dehydrate amides to nitriles with evolution of hydrogen chloride if they are heated together at elevated temperatures (>160 C) for at least 16 hours (William E. Dennis., J. Org. Chem., 1970, 35 (10), pp 3253-3255). Given the forcing conditions of this reaction, it is unlikely to occur at ambient conditions, and therefore unlikely to be a general hazard.
Organosilanes dissolve in dimethylformamide (DMF) at room temperature without reacting (Eugene G. Rochow, Kurt Gingold., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1954, 76 (19), pp 4852-4855).
