Hazard Predictions

Amides react with nitrating agents, including HNO3, to produce N-nitrosamides. The nitrosamides can decompose at elevated temperatures to esters or to carboxylic acids and olefins, with production of N2O gas (Zabicky, J., ed. 1970. The Chemistry of Amides. John Wiley & Sons. pp. 784.).

Amides may react with nitrous acid to form CO2 and N2 gases (Rodd, E. H, Ed. Chemistry of Organic Compounds. New York: Elsevier Publishing Company, 1951. Vol. I, pp. 908).
