Hazard Predictions

Acids can catalyze the rearrangement of an oxime to an amide, known as the Beckmann rearrangement reaction. This reaction can be exothermic, especially when catalyzed by concentrated acids (Donaruma, L. G.; Heldt, W. Z. (1960). "The Beckmann rearrangement. (Review)". Org. React. 11: 1-156).

Oximes are rapidly hydrolyzed by boiling in dilute acids, a reaction that produces ketones which may be volatile and flammable (George, Frederick; & Saunders, Bernard (1960). Practical Organic Chemistry, 4th Ed. London: Longman. p. 93).
