Hazard Predictions

No evidence was found for a hazardous bimolecular reaction between materials in these groups; however, in the presence of other reagents, reactions may occur.

Iron pentacarbonyl can react with oximes to form an iron tetracarbonyl-oxime complex. When this is heated or irradiated with light in the presence of a proton source, the oxime can be reduced to an imine. This reaction can also occur with dicobalt octacarbonyl or molybdenum hexacarbonyl. CO gas may be released from the metal carbonyl compound (Corsaro, A., Chiacchio, U., Pistarà, V. Synthesis 2001, No. 13, p. 1903-1931).
