Search Results

When you search for a chemical, CAMEO 365betÓéÀÖ displays a list of datasheets that match ALL your search criteriaName, identification number, and/or other identifying information for a chemical..

Depending on the type of search you ran, the list of datasheets may include chemical datasheets, UN/NA datasheets, or reactive group datasheets. If you run a:

  • Simple search for a chemical name, you might see all three types of datasheets in your search results list.
  • Simple search for a CAS numberOr CAS #. Chemical Abstracts Service Registry number. This chemical identification number, in the format XXX-XX-X, is assigned by the American Chemical Society (www.cas.org/support/documentation/chemical-substances/faqs)., only chemical datasheets will appear in the list. The other types of datasheets don't include CAS numbers.
  • Simple search for a UN/NA numberUnited Nations-North American number. (Also UN number or DOT number.) Four-digit number identifying an individual chemical or group of chemicals with similar characteristics. Required on shipping papers; often shown on placards. The four-digit number is often preceded by UN (such as UN1219)., you do not go to a search results page. Instead, you are taken directly to the UN/NA datasheet. At the top of the datasheet, you can click on a link to find all of the chemical datasheets with that UN/NA number.
  • Advanced search, only chemical datasheets will appear in the list.

Understanding the Search Results Abstracts

The list of search results includes a short abstractThe identifying datasheet information (such as chemical name, UN/NA number, key characteristics, and synonyms) shown within a color-coded box on the Search Results page. The colors indicate the type of datasheet: chemical datasheets are in gray boxes, UN/NA datasheets are in orange boxes, and reactive group datasheets are in brown boxes. with general information for each datasheet. The information displayed in the abstract will vary depending on the type of search you run and the type of datasheet.

Note: The colors of the abstract boxes indicate the type of datasheet: chemical datasheets are in gray boxes, UN/NA datasheets are in orange boxes, and reactive groupReactive groups are categories of chemicals that typically react in similar ways because they are similar in their chemical structure. For purposes of predicting reactivity between mixed chemicals, each substance in CAMEO 365betÓéÀÖ has been assigned to one or more reactive groups, based on the known chemistry of that substance. datasheets are in brown boxes. A chemical datasheet abstract is pictured below, and you can also  see sample abstracts for the other datasheetssee sample abstracts for the other datasheets

Below is a sample chemical datasheet abstract for a simple search for datasheets that contain the name boron tri. The search criteria and the information that matches the criteria are highlighted in green.

Multi-Word Simple Name Searches

For multi-word simple name searches (such as boron tri), CAMEO 365betÓéÀÖ will perform several searches for you simultaneously.

  • Primarily, it will find the datasheets whose names include ALL of the words in your search criteria. It doesn't matter if the names include the words in the same order as your search terms (e.g., boron tribromide) or in a different order (e.g., trichloroboron). The full list of matching datasheets is shown on the search results page with a brief abstract describing each datasheet.
  • Additionally, CAMEO 365betÓéÀÖ will search on each term individually, which can be helpful if your multi-word search criteria doesn't match on any datasheets. The section at the top of the search results page includes a breakdown of the search results as a phrase and for each individual word in the phrase. You can click on the links next to the single-word results to see the list of datasheets that contain that word in the name.

Note: When you run an advanced search, the search results are a little different. First, only matching chemical datasheets are found. Second, unlike the simple search abstract shown above, the advanced search abstract will vary depending upon what information you searched on. The abstract will still include the chemical datasheet name and the View Datasheet and Add to My365betÓéÀÖ buttons, but the rest of the abstract will include only the information from the fields that you searched on.
